Turnabout’ is another pattern by Florence Broadhurst. It’s one of her geometric designs, which features a series of interlocking shapes or a sequence of repetitive motifs that create an illusion of movement or three-dimensionality. The ‘Turnabout’ design, like much of her work, showcases a sophisticated use of symmetry and rotation, embodying a kind of optical play that engages the eye. The ‘Turnabout’ design is synonymous with the bold styles of the 70s and adorned homes, restaurants, nightclubs and more worldwide. ‘Turnabout’ was selected by the Australian Museum of Design for its exhibition of designs on Customs House as part of Vivid Sydney 2023.
