Margaret Clark ‘Star Fairy’

Margaret Clark, born in 1901, emerged as one of Australia’s most cherished illustrators in the 20th century. Her Art Deco illustrations highlight the era’s fascination with elegance, geometry, and vibrancy. Margaret was quoted as being inspired by the colours found in Australian scenery, integrating soft pastels with the vivid and dynamic shades.

Her designs illustrating fairy tales, fantasy scenes, and enchanting characters, always with a touch of whimsy and wonder which had the ability to transport viewers to fantastical realms.

Margaret’s work is highly sought after to this day, where originals have sold for many thousands of dollars at auctions.
